Fort Worden State Park

FortWorden-10

The Boy and I took Taylor up to Port Townsend a few weeks ago to spend some time at Fort Worden. Taylor's favorite part was playing on the beach, but ours was exploring the old batteries.

crafty ladies

A group of my lady friends and I try to get together once a month-ish to work on our various crafty projects while catching up with one another's lives. We find that if we don't make the time, months and months go by without seeing one another.

Months had gone by since the last little gathering... but finally we were able to make it happen. The sun was out so we sat on my little deck, chatting for hours, snacking, but not so much crafting. (Laura DID do some knitting...)

mis-planned Seattle adventure

I love making plans... but sometimes the most fun can happen when plans change, intentionally or not. Being in the company of someone more than awesome makes any outing into a fun adventure.

The Plan: Go to Seattle, wander and take photos, eat at Pike Place, go to the Pacific Science Center.

windy point

I went on a little adventure up to Point No Point with some (more than) awesome company over the weekend. It was blustery and cold, but still gorgeous. I managed to snap a few photos before I caved in and returned to the warmer car. Lesson learned: more layers.

kale and zucchini mock lasagna

I had very little food left in my house after the snow event a couple weeks ago. (Granted, I often don't have much food-- I tend to buy as I cook rather than stocking up on stuff, especially fresh produce, which I prefer.)

snowpocalypse: day ii

The second day of snow was a bit more rewarding than the first... I had around 5 inches at my house. I know that's not a lot by most standards, but it's respectable here. And a great excuse to take another lunch-time walk with the Tay-Boy to see how the park changed with actual snow instead of just slush!

snowpocalypse: day i

Snow2012-2

I had a few days of working-at-home because of the "snowpocalypse" forecast for the Pacific Northwest. Day One was a bit of a disappointment--the morning snow quickly turned to slush. By lunch time there was just enough snow to cover the ground in white and make everything slick, and just barely enough for the super determined to make a snowman.

frosty morning

We've had a few clear, crisp, and frosty mornings here in the Pacific Northwest the past couple of weeks. I paused on the way to my car one of those mornings, running a little late for work, but the frost on my cedar fence caught my eye. (Yes, I'm distracted by shiny things!)

cool apples

I take photos of a lot of random things. And I love it all.

Smallwood-6

Weddings, babies, my friends, my critters, pretty things I see, gross looking jelly fish. I've done a bit of it all. Even a golf tournament fund-raiser!

Chetzemoka

PT1016-1

My mom and I had a little mini adventure in Port Townsend. It was a perfect fall day... clear and crisp. We wandered through some of the shops, enjoyed some hot apple cider, bought some books for my yet-to-be-born nephew (he's due in March!!), then explored the Chetzemoka Park my dear friend Laura told me about. She said it was a hidden gem and knows what I like so I knew we couldn't head home until we checked it out.

embracing fall

I don't remember the last time I visited a pumpkin patch... years. At least. I did go to a corn maze my freshman year of college, but I don't think they had pumpkins--if they did, we didn't pick any.

In fact, I think the last time I even carved a pumpkin was my freshman year of college!

Clearly my visit to Carleton Farm was long over due--both for pumpkin picking purposes and to spend some time with dear friends.
