canoe journey

I took the opportunity last week to go watch one of the stops along this year's Salish Sea canoe journey, Paddle to Swinomish, when the paddlers stopped in Suquamish.

It is such an amazing thing to witness. Listening to the drums, songs, welcomes, requests for permissions to come ashore... it all gives me chills.







I didn't have a real camera with me, just my iPhone... the photos don't do it justice. Each canoe is unique and beautiful--even the paddles are works of art.









I love that my job lets me be a part of this. It was a great reminder of why we do what we do.
