Lately I've been classifying my days in terms of how many cups of tea I've had during the work day. Usually it is one cup of my favorite black tea of the month (recently it's Harney & Sons' Florence... yummy!) for my start-kick in the morning with an occasional generic green tea from the office selection in the afternoon.
Then there are the days when I have my yummy tea from home, then another cup of black tea from work, all before the lunch hour.
Or the days when I have my morning tea and then run down to Starbucks for coffee (which rarely happens but sometimes I need the caffeine plus sugar kick).
Or the days when I have an additional two cups of black tea after my morning tea... those are the days that nothing I do seems to wake me up or ease the craziness.
I haven't gone beyond three cups of black tea in one work day... yet. For some reason I can see it happening over the next few months.
So if I say it's a "three tea day" you know it's been crazy... or that all I've wanted to do is crawl back into bed. (I separate work-time-tea from home-time-tea because I'll drink tea at home no matter what kind of day it's been, so it's not really an indicator of how my day's been outside of work.)
That started me thinking... what other "signs" or "milestones" do you have that reflect the kind of day you've had?
Cups of black tea definitely describe my work days. Some days it's the number of times I've spilled something. Or if I'm doing something involving sharp instruments, it's the amount of skin broken or band-aids needed.
I think it's time for another cup of tea.
