That's right. Six whole years... of refusing to get cable.
Technically, I still refuse to pay for it. I have enough things to do that I don't need to add watching TV to my list--outside of Hulu, of course. And Netflix, but those are all past shows/seasons. And whenever I'm at my parents' house.
Then I got a call from Comcast to let me know that my current "deal" (still too expensive in my book) for internet was about to expire. At first I thought it was a scam--I'd never received a call from them before.* Usually I have to call them each time my promotional price expires to talk them into giving me a better deal.
The girl eventually convinced me that it wasn't a scam and offered me a new deal--I'd pay the exact same amount each month, but I'd get cable with HBO on top of my internet.
It still doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever... but I couldn't agree to the other option--stick with just internet and have my bill increase by $20.
So I'm getting cable. And HBO.
The funniest part (or one of them) is that the first thing I thought, and then what John and his buddy said--now we can watch Game of Thrones! We still have to watch Season 3, though, which still isn't out on DVD.
I don't have the cable box yet but I had John move my TV stand and TV from the office where it was hooked up to my internet (for Netflix) into the living room where it can be connected to the cable. I hate to admit it, but I'm actually a tad bit excited.
*I may have received a call and just hung up on them or didn't answer. I tend to do that when I don't recognize the number and/or they mispronounce my name.

The Guild
Have I mentioned my love of Netflix? I am sure I have.
My "discovery" of The Guild just reaffirms my love of Netflix. It came up as one of the "Suggestions You Might Like" based on my interest in Arrested Development, The Office, and something else AND all three seasons were available on Instant Play... so I decided to give it a shot.
Oh my goodness. I am so glad I did. I had literal Laugh Out Loud moments. And I already want to watch them again for some of the amazing quotes. I can't remember them verbatim right now (I'm terrible with quotes) and they are too genius for me to try and then butcher.
The Guild is a web series about gamers.

Old School Vampires
I've been watching the same movies and TV on DVD way too much. When I start laughing before the characters on The Office say their lines... I know it's time to switch things up a bit.
I had a craving to watch some old school TV shows via Netflix's Instant Play feature. Friends isn't available on Instant Play (I miss being able to flip through the TV channels and being able to find a Friends re-run at nearly any hour of the day) so I somewhat randomly decided to see if Buffy the Vampire Slayer is available... and behold! it is!
I didn't really watch Buffy when it was on in the 90's but I saw enough episodes to know the general gist of the story line and who the main characters are.
I don't remember the show being so... cheesy. Incredibly terrible fight scenes and special effects and the acting isn't exactly great, either. There were times I just stared at the screen in disbelief. Am I really watching the obviously-computer-generated shadow of Buffy dismember a giant praying mantis?! Yup. Just... wow.
Has TV production really come that far in the last 15 or so years... or was the show terrible even for the mid-90's?
I've only watched the first few episodes of the first season so far.
And I'm going to keep watching... for a few reasons.
1. It's still entertaining and doesn't require me to think. (In fact I have to force myself to NOT think so I can still be "surprised" by the plot twists and the conclusion.)
2. I can watch however many episodes as I want since all seven seasons are on Instant Play, without having to wait for the next DVD in the mail.
And, most importantly, 3. I keep waiting for the scenes where Angel shows up, out of nowhere, with a message of impending doom.
I think most of what I remember from the show comes from the later seasons so it is a bit weird waiting for a certain character to appear, but at the same time it is mildly interesting to see the foundation of the show from the beginning.
Maybe I'll put Friends on my queue, just in case I can't take anymore fake punches and half-hearted kicks that somehow manage to send huge vampires flying across rooms.

OMGlee
I love Glee.
And then they covered one of my favorite Queen songs.
{They disabled embedding for the video... but I definitely recommend watching it on YouTube!}
Now I love Glee even more.
I watched last night's show again just so I could see the end and this song.
I don't know what I would do if Fox didn't have so many of their shows available on their website... I would probably skip all my little household projects and invest in a TV much sooner rather than later.
Fox, my wallet and my soon-to-be-non-yellow walls thank you.
