Bremerton BrewFest!

This past weekend I attended the first Bremerton BrewFest... and it was a blast! The weather was perfection--sunny and warm, but not too hot, with a cooling breeze off the water.

BeerFest-2

There were 23 Washington breweries, each pouring at least a couple of their beers.

We got to taste 5 beers with our entrance fees, but could purchase more if we wanted. I tried Battenkill Brewing Company's Summer Rain Pale Ale, Fremont Brewing's Solstice Pale Ale, Georgetown Brewing's Manny's Pale Ale, Iron Horse Brewery's 509 Style, and Mac and Jack's Brewery's C U Later Barley Wine. My favorite was the Barley Wine... so good!

The festival started at noon and went until 9pm--we got there around 3pm. Some of the breweries were already running out of beer by the time we got our last few tastes... I really wanted to try Fremont's Kentucky Dark Star-Bourbon Imperial Oatmeal Stout and Iron Horse's Irish Death, but both were out.

There was an impressive turn out and we saw a bunch of people we knew (although I expected to see more).

Plus, Lutes and Liars played--great friends, great beer, and great music! Seriously doesn't get much better.

We wrapped up the evening relaxing at Our Sound Home, making s'mores, chatting, playing music, and enjoying the water view. I didn't leave until midnight! It's the first time in awhile that I didn't want the day to be over.

I hope there are more great summer days like that one in my future.

  1. Seriously, I think this was one of my favorite days in our house so far. I think it was the mix of close friends, a smaller group & sunshine. It was great!! Love ya!

  2. Little side story - We took the Mac & Jack's tour the next day in Redmond and tried the Barley Wine. It was awful! Very medicinal. Someone even asked our tour guide friend why on earth they made the stuff. It all came from the same batch, so the beer at brew fest must have been a perfect storm! LOVE YOU!
