This is a first...
My sister read a book, liked it, and encouraged me to read it, too.
She wasn't much of a reader growing up whereas I was the one with my nose in a book at all times. I would get in trouble for disappearing in my bedroom to read.
I had already purchased the book at Costco but hadn't had time to start it. If a book is really good I tend to get sucked in and lose track of time... and I haven't had enough to spare to lose any.
Finally, after numerous texts from Jayme asking if I'd read it yet... I started The Hunger Games.
And I got sucked in. Hard core.
I was invested in the characters within the first two chapters.
Before I knew it over four hours had passed.
This wouldn't be such a terrible thing if I hadn't started to read around 10pm and didn't have to work the next day.
Ugh.
But it's so good!
I'm sure you've heard of it by now... lots of people are into it.
It's another Young Adult trilogy. People will probably (if they aren't already) compare it to the craze that blew up around the Twilight trilogy. After reading the first half of the book I could already tell that there's a HUGE difference between The Hunger Games and Twilight: The Hunger Games is actually well written.
I know. Shocking.
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed reading the Twilight series.
I'm just enjoying The Hunger Games more.
Now I need to get my hands on the next two books in the trilogy: Catching Fire and Mockingjay!
(I think I like not starting a trilogy until all three books are out. This way I don't have to wait for them to be released!)

Yeah, Hunger Games is pretty awesome. And actually number 2 is even better. Sadly though, I thought Mockingjay ruined it all for me. Hopefully you will like it, lots of people did. But I was thoroughly disappointed.
ReplyDeleteI just finished Catching Fire, and you're right--I liked it even more than the first one! I'm almost finished with Mockingjay, but I'm trying not to decide how I feel about it until I'm completely done. (Probably tonight!)
