I have to say, we make a pretty darn good team... and we come up with some awesome ideas when we're exhausted and haven't eaten in too many hours.
The "theme" of the shower was "classy Southern country," derby hats highly encouraged.
Unfortunately Holli and I got to be so busy that we didn't have time to find hats for ourselves but many of the guests did! It was awesome! (I wish I had taken a large group picture or something to show off some of the awesome hats they came up with... oh well.)
It was all worth it. It all came together in the end, Jessica enjoyed herself, and I think that the guests did, too. Yay!
Now bring on the next event!
Pictures first, though... of course. :)
The table set-up: we had the food goods inside (except for the beverages which were outside in my parents' pretty glass jug things that I forgot to take pics of), all appetizers and light foods. I even made a paper pendant banner to go over the table! And all of the "table cloths" were actually sheets I found at Good Will and cut to size!
We had lemonade (with optional strawberry puree) and "spa water," which is just sliced cucumbers, limes, and mint with water. So refreshing!
I borrowed my parents' wine glasses (among many other things) for the shower to have something nicer for our beverages than plastic, etc... but I didn't have wine charms. Holli and I came up with the idea to put glass beads on some safety pins that I already owned and then pin them around the stems of the wine glasses. It worked beautifully! (Plus, they'll be perfect for whenever we host a baby shower!)
We used Ball canning jars as our vases for the centerpieces. I picked up two large ones from Michael's and three smaller ones from Good Will for 20 cents each. Sweet! (And you can see my safety pin charm on my wine glass in the lower corner...)
Holli made delicious lemon raspberry cupcakes and I made some chocolate cake "truffles," aka cake-pops minus the stick.
I picked up the peachy pink roses and the spikey white flowers from Costco, a few things of white carnations from Walmart and some greenery from the shrub in my yard to put together five flower arrangements for the centerpieces.
I had to get a group photo of the high school ladies with the bride!
A BIG shout-out to the Maid of Honor, Holli, who put together an awesome shower for our dear friend! I am glad that I was able to assist with providing my home, sanity checks, sounding board for ideas, etc. It was so much fun!
Jessica, we love you!
Wow, pretty pictures! Looks like a great shower. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!! It was a lot of fun... but went by in a whirlwind!
ReplyDeleteCute, cute, and fancy shmancy! I love the food and flower pics especially. I'm a sucker for cute food. Although I have to say, as one living in the South, I'm not sure that "classy" and "Southern" really belong together in one theme. But whether it's theoretically possible or not, you seem to have pulled it off anyway:)
ReplyDeleteHaha you crack me up! I should have gone to you for suggestions. I couldn't figure out a way to incorporate crawfish... I don't even know if any place sells crawfish up here.
ReplyDeleteThe shower rocked!!!:-)
ReplyDeleteYay! I'm glad you liked it! After all, we did it for YOU!
