cupcake bites, take one

This weekend was pretty productive... not the kind of productive I was hoping for maybe {my house is still a mess}, but productive nonetheless.

Friday and Saturday I did a test run of Cupcake Bites, inspiration/directions courtesy of Bakerella.

Friday night I made the  cake {Devil's Food}...

Crumbled the baked cakes and added the frosting {milk chocolate}...

And then formed the cake + frosting mixture into balls. {It got quite messy} Then, because I couldn't resist, I finished up the first batch with the melted chocolate candy melts. I used Wilton chocolate for the bases, and white and green vanilla flavored melts for the tops.

I used a bunch of white with a few of the green to make a lighter shade of green for the tops of the cupcake bites.

I think the final product turned out pretty cute...

Oh, and they taste pretty good, too.

Saturday I finished up the rest of the cupcake bites... I think I made a total of 65 or so. I topped some with coconut, some with peanut-butter M&Ms, some with crushed M&Ms {I didn't have any spinkles} and some with mini milk chocolate chips.

I'm planning on making these as favors for my friend's bridal shower in July. I took most of them over to my parents' house so I would stop "sampling" them.
