Laura has inspired me to reconnect with my crafty-side...
So I did a little bit of knitting.
I'm not very good at following directions, so I am hoping that these will be the first of my direction-following knitting projects.

A bit of embroidery.
I have a million (ok, maybe closer to 10) pillows that came with my couch-loveseat set from my uncle, so I've decided to cover some of them to use in my bedroom. I don't think that the material I bought will be big enough for them, though, so I might just have to make new pillows altogether. It has a viney and flower design on it that I used as my "pattern." I'm planning on adding a bird silhouette that will match the ones on the "art" below in another fabric. (I really like brown lately, especially chocolatey browns.)

And some general "art making."
The pillows are going to coordinate with these art pieces for my bedroom. I painted the canvas light brown, painted on the branch and leaves, added the paper bird silhouettes and the blue "designy" piece, stamped/painted on the words, and added some more painted details. Then I went back and embroidered some details after sealing the paint/paper.

Love Love Love the new crafty projects! I can't wait to see how the booties turn out. If I ever finally finish the baby leggings, a hat and booties are next on the list.
ReplyDeleteAll I can knit is a scarf... lol and I am not totally sure I am even doing that right!
ReplyDeleteLittle known fact about me - I grew up learning several different techniques to use when doing embroidery. My grandma is very into it and when I was a teenager I thought only old people do that, but now I find myself wanting to get back into again. It is actually pretty relaxing. Does this make me old now? :-)
